Mike Savage has worked in public radio for more than 25 years managing NPR stations in Georgia, Illinois and Indiana. Mike directs station operations, programming, news and fundraising. He also serves as Acting News Director and hosts Weekend Edition Sunday.
Mike is a Director on the NPR Board and also serves on the board for the Association of Kentucky Public Radio Stations. He has also served on the board of Public Radio in MidAmerica and Indiana Public Broadcasting Stations. Mike holds the distinction of being the one of the few members of the NPR Board to have been elected by station petition in 2014 and 2019.
Mike holds a Bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism and a Masters in Mass Communication and has been honored with dozens of journalism awards by the Society for Professional Journalists and Associated Press. Mike has also been named as one of the Best Managers in Radio by Radio Ink Magazine in 2015 and 2019.
