A clarification concerning our segment on Heirs Properties: In explaining a lack of safeguards in Kentucky against heirs' property land parcels being leased to coal companies and other extractive interests - over the objections of other people holding an ownership interest in those properties, Carson Benn of “LiKEN”, the Livelihoods Knowledge Education Network, did not intend to leave listeners with the impression that they have no recourse.  Landowners facing the prospect of property being mined over their objection based on a lease made by another owner of the property should consult an attorney regarding their rights under Kentucky's common law and state constitution, because Kentucky law on the matter is not settled. We thank Tom Fitzgerald at the Kentucky Resources Council for calling this to our attention.
