On this edition of Eastern Standard

Kentucky ranks 44th in the nation for the financial literacy of its citizens. There's a new law on the books that is designed to improve that ranking. House Bill 132, passed in the 2018 Kentucky General Assembly, requires that Kentucky public high school students complete a financial literacy course in order to graduate. On this edition of Eastern Standard, members of the Coalition for Financial Literacy in the Commonwealth, formed to develop curricula and standards for this new course. They include Cynthia Harter, Associate Professor of Economics and Director of the Center for Economic Education at Eastern Kentucky University; Mary Ann Vimont, Associate Professor in the College of Education at the University of Kentucky; and Abdullah Al-Bahrani, Associate Professor of Economics at Northern Kentucky University.
