Judah Schept is a Professor and Graduate Program Coordinator in the School of Justice Studies here at Eastern Kentucky University. And he is author of “Coal, Cages, Crisis: The Rise of the Prison Economy in Central Appalachia”, as well as a previous book, “Progressive Punishment: Job Loss, Jail Growth and the Neoliberal Logic of Carceral Expansion.”
